Dr. Pieper was internationally recognized for his expertise in the treatment of cerebrovascular, skull base and craniofacial surgery.  He was one of the leading authorities in the treatment of tumors affecting hearing.  His pioneering work in the techniques of minimally invasive skull base surgery led to improved outcomes in the treatment of pituitary tumors, trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm for which he was honored at the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery of the Brain, Skull Base and Spine. He was named one of the top surgeons in the U.S. as ranked by his peers.
