Marisa L. Smitt is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, specializing in neuroendovascular procedures, stroke and cerebral aneurysms. She began her career working with postoperative spine patients and then expanded into neurology and trauma intensive care. Her expertise is traumatic brain injuries, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain aneurysms and other neurologic conditions.
Working with Ali Luqman, M.D., her focus is on the treatment and care of patients who experience head injury, spinal cord trauma and cerebrovascular disease. Marisa is trained to perform comprehensive physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic testing, formulate patient diagnoses and create treatment plans, including medication management. Marisa is also specially trained to first assist Dr. Luqman in surgical and interventional radiology cases in the operating room.
Marisa Smitt believes that delivering personalized health care all starts with treating every patient like she would want to be treated, with respect, dignity and compassion. She cares for her patients and their families like they are members of her own family. Marisa makes sure her patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options while encouraging them to be equal partners in their care. She realizes that every patient is different requiring a unique, individualized approach to care with a personalized course of treatment.
